wireless problems

Ok... I am completely new to linux so i am not sure about anything.
When I first installed linux, my wireless card can identify my router however it wont connect. Reading up on the forums i read up on a bug so i waited for the update.
Today i installed the update and still it can recognize the router but cant connect again... can someone provide help
My wireless card is a TP-Link TL-WN510G

Is the router issuing IP addresses using DHCP?
If you are just using the computer with one access point you could try a static IP. Also verifing your router settings could help.
