    Re: No Internet

going back to a previous post I just tried checking the routing table using netstat -nr - the output of this was nothing - got the headers but no numbers - is this the same as 'network unavailable' i wonder! Also disabled IPV6 still no go.

just took out the card and find it is a 3C9058-TX....according to the hardware compatibility list it seems to be unsupported?....

uh that leaves the wireless solution - I can feel a headache coming on.

That's correct but the editing of the blacklist file: it should be
      Code:
      sudo echo "blacklist ipv6" >> /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist

        Re: No Internet

well bought a new card. No difference with Kubuntu - tried a live ubuntu disc - still the same. Bit of a cheek to slag off windows don't you think?

          Re: No Internet

picked up an Ubuntu disc from the guy who sold me the card. Decided to give it a whirl and during install guess what it picked up the old card and configured it during the install screens but wow an error message unable to install the kernel into targetting system - kernel package Linux-386. What is this some sort of bad joke.

              Re: No Internet

If the card works in ubuntu it should work in kubuntu, too (the basic system is the same), so most likely a configuration rather than a hardware issue.

But if it works and you're happy, that's all that matters, happy ubuntuing

                Re: No Internet

If you now have Ubuntu/Gnome and a internet connection it is a simple matter to install kubuntu-desktop and choose KDE.
