    Screen resolution is wrong

    Hello everyone,
I installed Kubuntu yesterday and my screen resolution was fine, I checked the settings and it had recognised my Nvidia Geforce 6800 card and I could alter the resolution slider.
But today I have booted up and the windows are all too big, the resolution is locked on 640 x 480, the slider won't move and I can't change anything.
My graphics card is a Nvidia Geforce 6800 with 256mb ram but greyed out in a side box it says 256kb of ram, is this right?
    I hope you can help,
    Bigjon.

    Hi,

You should try to reconfigure it like this :
    Open a konsole and type
    dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg

    Hope it helps

I get the same problem after trying to change the "switch monitor off after" setting for the second time (It always returns to 5 hours after restarting a session). What I did was run sudo dpkg -reconfigure xserver-xorg and make a backup of /etc/X11/xorg.conf, if it happens again just use the backup.

Many thanks both, that worked a treat.
Not getting the full resolution of my cards capability but I will enjoy working the reason for that out.
At least I can see the web pages now, thanks again,
        BigJon.
