start devices after Kubuntu is running?

I currently have Kubuntu Edgy installed on my older Hp laptop that does not have a built in wireless card. When I put the laptop in my bag I have to remove the pcmcia wireless card as it sticks out past the zipper preventing it from closing. Now the issue with this is my forgetfullness, I constantly do not remember to put the card in the laptop before booting. In windows the card is automaticly picked up and you are notified by a chime and a little green arrow in the tray. Now in Kubuntu I have to reboot the laptop to get it too work.

Is this done in the console? Start something? Thank you once again Kubuntu forums!

    Hi,

I'm really not sure it can help as I'm not using pcmcia cards but in your place I would try this :
    sudo /etc/init.d/pcmciautils restart

Maybe take a look before in logs by the command "dmesg" if you can see something.

    Hope it helps
