Ok. I'm new to Linux in any form. I tried Linspire and could not get the thing to install to a hard disk properly. A friend suggested Kubuntu and it installed to my computer with little trouble. I like what I see so far and haven't found much to dislike.
About the system.
Computer is an Acer Aspire 3000 Laptop
Sempron 3000+ CPU
1.28 gigs DDR PC2700 (333) Ram
and a Toshiba 40 gig HD
It has a built in BROADCOM 802.11g Wireless card .
the problem is that while Kubuntu says the wireless device is there it will not let me enable the device .
I'm on a wireless network at home and this makes it very difficult for me to access the internet. If I can learn to use this OS and get this problem fixed I intend to migrate my entire network to it and off of Microsquish. Vista is not a nightmare I wish to endure!
When I tell the system to enable to device it turns green for a second and then goes right back to red and disabled. The built in 10/100 card has no problems and I can access the net though it but that defeats the purpose of having bought a laptop with built in wireless Help!! Please!
