    BFG Tech

I'm a noob. Is there a way to get more out of my BFG Tech 5500 nvidia card under Kubuntu? I'm desperate to take advantage of all the awesome new games I've installed, yet my Xserver apparently needs some tweaking.Or maybe not ...............Help a noob?

I'm not at all familiar with BFG Tech cards. The important thing to know is the model number of the Nvidia chip set on the card. Then, you can decide whether to install "nvidia-glx" or "nvidia-glx-legacy" (which is for older chip sets).

In order to take advantage of the fancy features on your video card you must install the packages:
    (1) "linux-restricted-modules-<your-kernel>", where <your-kernel> is the output of the konsole command "uname -r", e.g. "2.6.17-10-generic". AND
    (2) either "nvidia-glx" or "nvidia-glx-legacy". Read the package descriptions to decide which you need.

Then run the konsole command "sudo nvidia-glx-config enable".
