Ok, I am a complete noob to Linux in general. I got Kubuntu on a disc. Ill give you some hardware info.
Celeron D @ 2.9GHz
512MB RAM
80GB HDD (primary channel) - Windows XP Home Installed
40GB HDD (secondary channel - slave) - Unpartitioned
DVD/CD-r Drive (secondary channel - master)
Soundblaster Live! 5.1
Nvidia GeForce FX 5200
Ok, I want to install Kubuntu on the 40GB drive. I boot from the CD and the main installer screen shows up (Start or Install Kubuntu, etc)
now I want to install. I press enter. It says loading kernel. screen goes blank for a sec then it says something like "OK... booting kernel" then it reboots. I have tried the noacpi options like it says int he help files but i am unable to find any information on this subject because whoever wrote the help/website content assumed the installer would work. Any ideas on what I should try?
