    Samba/SWAT general question

    Hi all,

I was wondering if someone could point me to a succinct description of what samba and/or swat might offer me?

I'd like to share the printer that's connected to my linux box with a network windows machine and also to explore the possibility of sharing the two computers' drives. I'm running Edgy.

    Thanks,

    j

    Re: Samba/SWAT general question

SAMBA allows file and print sharing with windows and Mac computers. Swat is a Samba web bases Samba config tool. have never used Swat though I am planning to soon and I have not used the printer sharing I just print to the IP of my HP5. Samba is easy to set up and works well I run a home fileserver and I am will pleased with it's function. I can access files from Windows, Mac or Linux

      Thanks! that helps a bit.

so what would you recommend for someone that's interested in setting things up at home (resource sites, just something quick and easy to help me get my feet wet, etc....)?

      thanks again,
