the choice of kubuntu version

Hello, i've just bought a portable computer and i wanna install kubuntu on it, but i don't know which version install... i took the last one for i386 but it doesn't seem to function, i'll try the AMD-64 tomorrow but the matter is, as some users i know told me, that this version is not very good, cause of the compatibility with the components of the computer...

If you're new to Linux your best bet would be 32 bit Dapper (6.06 LTS).

What king of problems were you having?

What kind of computer do you have? What video card? Are you trying to boot both Windows and Linux?

If you're burning your own CD's burn them ***very*** slow. 4 or 6 x if your burner will go that low.

yes i wanna have a dualboot between kubuntu and windows

i've tried kubuntu 6.06 and 6.10 for i386, but it didn't work, unfortunately. I don't know what to do... maybe madriva will run succesfully.. i just wanna a dristibution which works and which i can use for developping.
