How do you load the X Windows Desktop?

1 How do you load the X Windows Desktop in Kubuntu?
2 Were do you get the Wine program, and how do you load it so you can run Windows Programs on Kubuntu Linux.

A generic answer to your first question would be to write the following at the shell:
startx

And, voila, there you go...

Now why that ain't happennig automatic... it makes me wonder.

to the second question.
Install wine using synaptic. just do a search for wine.
After it's installed locate wine/C/WINDOWS/ and you have an emulation of some windows utilities... I used wine once but became ashamed of it ... If you wanna use Windows install it. Depite all the bugs and security issues regarding virus and worms it's still the OS where you can do it all have it all ...
