Need software: Video index fixer

Many movies I download seem to be broken somehow >
Some don't play at all, and some play a part of it in the beginning.

Kaffeine seems to be restoring index but that doesn't seem to change anything.
I need a program to fix *.avi files (Xvid/DivX)

I tried using VLC and MPlayer. Same result. Please help me

Have you installed video drivers for your video card?

If so, I had a hell of a time with stuff like Kaffinee and all the rest. Insstall gxine from Adept. The first time you run it it has a little set up wizard that checks your machine so you'll know what to adjust.

After that - if you still have problems with artifacts and stuff like that there is a very nice trouble shooter on their site here:
