    RAR extraction error help needed?

I have installed the "ark" archiver but when I try to unpack a rar file it giver an error saying : "The tool unrar is not in the search way". In other words the ark program cant locate the archive that I want to unpack??

Is there any other "rar-unpack" programs that I can use except ark

unrar (non-free) and unrar-free are both available from the repositories.

I installed new respositories on the link below. Then I could download the package "unrar" instead, that worked fine.

Is there anyway to unpack archives in unrar, without having to use Konsole
and type : unrar x rar-file I liked the design and usability of "ark" if it would have worked that is.Is there any config avaible so that I can get the unrar to work the same as ark

I use Synaptic Package Manager because I think it is best.

To install it, if you don't have it already:
          sudo apt-get install synaptic
I would try Synaptic to reinstall it. Package>Mark for reinstallation - then press apply.

          See if that helps.

Ark is a sort of 'toolbox' that uses different compressing (CLI) tools to compress files, unrar is one of those tools, so if you have 'unrar' installed, ark should be able to automagically handle rar-archives. 'unrar' and 'unrar-free' can only decompress rar files, if you want to compress in the rar format you'd probably need 'rar' package, which is shareware. So if you don't want to pay for your software, use other formats.
