    DNS not being pulled from DHCP

    I just installed Dapper Drake on my laptop to force me to learn Linux. So far I have been able to solve all the problems that have come up except one. When I connect to any network my dns severs are not populated from DHCP. If I check the system setting in KDE it doesn't show any dns servers until I enter them. If I enter them manually things work fine but the settings stay between reboots. This would be fine but I work in IT and connect to several different networks a day with this machine.

    The problem can't be with the DHCP servers since they are all different (Pix firewalls, Win2Kx, soho routers, etc).

    Here is what I see in ifconfig:
    lathanm@megabyte:~$ ifconfig eth0
    eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:09:6B:7A:A8:63
    inet addr:192.168.1.50 Bcast:192.168.1.255 Mask:255.255.255.0
    inet6 addr: fe80::209:6bff:fe7a:a863/64 Scope:Link
    UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
    RX packets:14336 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
    TX packets:10161 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
    collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000
    RX bytes:9979412 (9.5 MiB) TX bytes:1192484 (1.1 MiB)

    I'm running XP in a VMWare session on the box and it pulls all the settings from DHCP fine. So the information is being accepted by the NIC.

    Any suggestions on where to beging looking for the fix?
