How can I determine my version of Kubuntu

How can I determine if I have Kubuntu 6.02 or LTE , etc and if I want to update to the most recent stable version how can I do that.

File /etc/issue should contain your version number
(The system version is 'Ubuntu' even if you use kubuntu)

In the konsole:

lsb_release -a

tells to me that:

Distributor ID: Ubuntu
Description: Ubuntu 6.06.1 LTS
Release: 6.06
Codename: dapper

more: man lsb_release
