I have installed Kubuntu on a machine which is attached to a windows network and which I want to use as a backup location for automatic backups. This machine has two hard disks, one with the OS and a second one for the backups. I have two questions:
1.I need to set user names and passwords for the shared folders so that not anyone on the network can access and see the contents of the backup folder.
2.Any suggestions of a suitable backup software? At the moment I am using Cobian back up which is installed on the windows machines but I have the feeling that it would be better to have something installed on the Kubuntu machine and pull the data instead of sending them as I do now.
