Monitor Problem

i installed kubuntu on my laptop and attached an external monitor to it.
now i installed the external monitor by K Menu => System Settings => Display and going into the hardware tab and selecting the Administrator mode. i installed it as a secondary monitor as Monitor #2. now when i select administrator mode in System Settings => Display kubuntu doesn't load anything at all!!!
can anyone help, please

dunno why but the link didn't work
and the link suggests "Intel Extreme Graphics"
i have ATI Radeon
