Kubuntu 6.06 won't boot after install - boot disk missing

Thanks to everyone who takes the time to help others.
Clean dvd install to 40GB HD. When I reboot to start new OS, system says boot device missing, insert boot disk and retry. This is just like windows when the .sys files are missing. What am I missing here?

Is it grub which is telling this ? On boot of linux or all the time ?
