    kde does not log in

    Hi There,
yesterday I did an update with the update manager. There were some problem with the skype repositories, then I changed the url of the skipe repository as indicated in www.skype.com.

Afterwords when I tried to run the update manager again, it could not open because it was busy. I logged out and when I tried to log in again, it just returns to the log in page without logging me in.

Possible causes of the problems are:

1)The automatic update was updating firfox as it was opened. Firefox crached and I had to kill it
2)i chanded the file source.list with kdesu kate, and kate was still opened when I runned the update for the second time

A coworked suggested to ~/.kde directory and
    see if that works.

    What do you suggest?

    Thanks in advance

Re: kde does not log in

    Hi,

For me it sounds like it would be two things :
    - or the drive of /home is full. So you should go to clean some files. You should be able to do it from console mode (<ctrl>+<Alt>+<F1>)
    - or the config of kde is broken, so you should go to console also, rename the .kde in .kde_old for example and try to login again.

    Hope it helps.

Re: kde does not log in

Thanks very much for your help. In fact, I realised that the hard drive is full. I did two things, apt-get clean, to recover some space, and moved the mail, but still I cannot log in. I might also rename the kde folder. I will try it and report the result.
      Thanks,
      Marco

There can also be troubles with .xsessions-errors and .Xauthority (or something like this)
Hope it will find a way
