    Realtek sound not working

I recently installed Kubuntu to learn linux. Everything is working except for my sound doesn't work. I checked posts and started KMix and the volumes are set to max and turned on. In KInfoCenter my Sound tab says

Sound Driver:3.8.1a-980706 (ALSA v1.0.10rc3 emulation code)
    Kernel: Linux rokngeodude-laptop 2.6.15-27-386 #1 PREEMPT
    Config options: 0
    Installed drivers:
    Type 10: ALSA emulation

    Card config:
    Intel ICH5 with ALC650F at 0xe8000c00, irq 193

    Audio devices:
    0: Intel ICH5 (DUPLEX)

Synth devices: NOT ENABLED IN CONFIG

Midi devices: NOT ENABLED IN CONFIG

    Mixers:
    0: Realtek ALC650F

I'm not sure what the installed drivers or the NOT ENABLED IN CONFIG means.

    Re: Realtek sound not working

    Hi

If you haven't tried it already, type alsamixer in a console and make sure master and pcm are turned up. If that doesn't work, you could try changing the sound system to OSS.

      Re: Realtek sound not working

      Hello,

      Two things: a problem solved
I have the same problem with a Realtek ALC883 (on Acer Aspire 9423): no sound at all. I get the sound OK by using activating Front in KMix (PC Speaker was on, but it's doesn't run).
Is it a bug to report?

      A problem to solve
Amarok is able to read a sound file, but it can't sound with a webradio although the files is considered as normally running by amarok (it load the link normally and the equalizer show as usual).

Thanks for anyone who will answer.
