How do you rip files?

When I try to use KaudioCreator it dies complaining about not findind a track 01.wav.

The cd I have is a store bought miles davis esp cd. It doesn't have any .wav files.

Which leads me to believe the error doesn't make any sense.

Can you try a different CD just to check if its the CD or the ripper?

some CD's come with "bonuses" like videos and Ive even seen once with flash that automatically plays when you insert it into a Windows box.

Other cds also exhibit the same behavior.

Are there other programs that anyone would recommend for ripping cds?

I use Grip and like it pretty well. I used to use EAC on Windows and Grip is the closest I can find on Linux. KAC had too few features for me. Don't know why your KAD isn't working, it should work right out of the box. Good luck.

I've had a lot of success with K3b. Very simple to use and haven't had a problem with it.

Thanks for that bit of advice. I could not get KaudioCreator to work with Lame - always gave an error. Installed GRIP (which was new to me) changed the encoder to LAME and it just worked. I now have talks on MP3 again, at last. Greg

I found that Linux reads Audio CD's as using .wav. To rip CD audio, simply drag and drop the files from the CD directory and into the folder of your choice. That simple.
