    KDE 3.5.5 Killed My Screensaver?

Hello all, I'm still happy that I tried Kubuntu, and I still love it! 8)

I just upgraded to KDE 3.5.5 and it's sweet to say the least; problem is, that just like back on KDE 353(?), my screesaver no longer will turn on automatically by the time set.

Hopefully one of the Kubuntu Linux wizards out there has or will have a fix for this issue; gotta have my screesaver! Thanks people!

I found this over at http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...d.php?t=454365

I've had good luck adding the following:

    Code:
    DPMS-dependent=false
to your kdesktoprc file in "/home/user/.kde/share/config" under the "[ScreenSaver]" section, assuming you're running KDE. On two of my machines running Kubuntu, the screensavers failed. After adding the above code and restarting, they started working again.
And it made things work for me :-S

Also try setting screensaver priority to high.

        Thanks guys for your replies.

I am now running Edgy 6.10; upgraded from Dapper 6.0.6.1. I sometimes I still find that the screen saver will "wink out" on me but not often. I have made it priority "medium" and that seems to help.

After running Cedega and having a game lock up requiring me to "end the current session", it'll wink out. Other times, I am not sure why it happens. I thought that maybe by changing my monitor settings in Display options from, plug n play to my specific manufacturer settings (Cornerstone) that maybe this had caused the problem. I am a noob and so I offer the symptoms and possibilities as I have observed them, and for you experienced guys this might not be all that helpful. Thanks.

There is not a symptom or possibility out there that is not helpful. I think we all strive to improve and strengthen the meaning of "Ubuntu" If one does not ask, then one does not learn. It is great that there are people out here that have the knowledge and ambition to contribute.

            Thanks for your comments!

It is true in all the forums I have visited so far, that very rarely, and I mean "very rarely" do you see posts that do not express the spirit of ubuntu. It is amazing what people from all over the planet can do working "together", as opposed to working against each other for the political despot du jour.
