    login screen does not load

i have kubuntu 6.06. everything was working fine till i unnecessarily reconfigured xserver.
now when i boot kubuntu, everything seems proper in the loading screen. then the login screen does not come. it just freezes after loading. i can switch to terminal using ctrl+alt+f1 key at that time, but cannot start kde. so what should i do. please help me.

if your system was working properly before try to restore your previous xserver configuration file, check /etc/X11/xorg.conf to see if you have a backup of xorg.conf and use it.

    Hope it may help.

Typo there, the directory is /etc/X11

Also, if you don't have a working backup, you can try reconfiguring X again, trying less aggressive values on resolutions etc.
