NVidia Dual Video Card Question

I enter Display under System Settings. I go to the hardware tab. I tell it to Select based on my video card, NVidia GeForce FX. It is a dual video card on my Dell Presicion Workstation. I hit the test button. It stays pushed in for 10 seconds or so, there is no change on the screen (ie no test pattern) and then it does not keep the changes nor will it allow me to activate the second monitor as a second, versus a clone which it is doing now by default.

I know I'm missing something, but can't seem to put my finger on it. Can someone show me that err in my ways?

Have you installed the Nvidia driver? If not see http://easylinux.info/wiki/Ubuntu_da...r_.28NVIDIA.29

If you have, have you shut down and started again to let the driver load?
