    Is it worth it?

I tried Kubuntu for thye first time today. Never tried Linux before.
Spent all day trying to install and then get it to work.
I used a 3 year old Dell office PC with celeron processor and 128mb ram.

Tried the normal download, then the alternative one on a slow burn. Every time the installation gets quite a way and then the screen goes black and nothing else happens. I've left it ages and still nothing happens.

I then rebooted and it seemed to work but was so slow it's just not worth bothering with. I can't get it to do anything.
I know I could do with more memory, but it ran XP reasonably well.

I'll give it another go tomorrow then thats it.

128Mb of RAM is not enough. Aim at a minimum of 256Mb. Can you increase it? I have found ebay a useful source of used memory.

WIth that low of memory I would look into Xubuntu. Not that there is anything wrong with Kubuntu, but Xubuntu is lighter on the system.
