My 2012 Acer Aspire V3-771G has an Intel 300HD GPU and a secondary Nvidia GAT 650M GPU, which cannot be selected as the primary from the BIOS because it is Nvidia Optimus.
Oshunluver's advice is exactly what I did to set up my Nvidia when I installed Kubuntu 14.04 many years ago. It started with the 340 driver, IIRC, and I am now using the 390 driver. I also have qemu/qemu-kvm installed and when I install a virtual OS it uses my Nvidia GPU as well. The OS's I have tried by installing them as virtual run nearly as fast as if I had installed them on bare SSD."A nation that is afraid to let its people judge the truth and falsehood in an open market is a nation that is afraid of its people.”
