    Being New

Hope I am not being redundent but maybe didn't communicate well.

I am tring to get 6.06 LTS running from CD's sent to me from Kubuntu. I have tried the Ubuntu as well as Kubuntu CD's to install. Now find neither will. Both start from a cold boot and display " Uncompressing kernel,OK then hang. Nothing after that.

This system is booting to a hard drive with Mandrake only on it. Have tried to start an install on a windows drive also. Same thing. First thought it was the Cd's. Can't be two bad disks.

Any help will be appreciated. Tnx.

How much RAM have you got and how big is your hard drive?

        Rolling Thunder,

due to similar experience, I would suspect the boot parameters GRUB (read: your boot loader) is using when trying to bring up the system. Maybe you can compare what Mandrake uses (I'm not familiar with this one) to what (K)Ubuntu and other are using ...
