    [Installation] REFind Question

Installed REFind on Kubuntu on a second hard drive. The primary hard drive had Windows 10 [pre-installed] with UEFI. This was done for a friend.

Dual boot works fine. If the friend wants for some reason to remove Kubuntu and uninstalls REFind will it restore the original Windows uefi boot system again? IE will Windows still boot?

If not and I delete Kubuntu will refind still be available to Windows?

We may have a person or two here who uses rEFInd, so there may be other tips but as a non-Kubuntu specific thing, there may not a lot of experience with this program here.

In that same reference (Rod Smith), there's help for Windows, too:

      Fixing Windows Boot Problems
      https://www.rodsbooks.com/refind/ins...g.html#winprob

      and this:
      Installing rEFInd Manually Using Windows

But before wading thru this 2nd link, scroll down to this para.:
"You can boot from an optical disc into an emergency OS to do the job. Ubuntu, for instance, provides an EFI-bootable installer with a "try before installation" mode ...."
Sounds like, yes, you can install rEFInd to boot Windows (I think, kinda sure) ... I just hadn't ever thought about that before now.

You know, you might keep Boot-Repair in mind here, too. Maybe prepare a CD/USB and try it out. You can always run it without accepting the suggested repair.

The windows bootloader didn't go anywhere. It's in the Microsoft directory in the efi partition.

If you remove kubuntu and refind it will be there. You need to go into your bios and reorder the boot order to put the windows loader at the top.
