Top 5 Features The Best Baby Monitor Should Have

Modern parents often find themselves swamped with responsibilities— from work, to friends, to families. After a long day of working, the last thing anyone would want to have is an interrupted sleep where they constantly have to check on their baby, wondering if they are okay in the next room.

Worry no more, because this article will show you the 5 features the best rated baby monitors should have that will give you peace of mind even when you’re not around your babies.

    Good Video and Audio Quality

The most basic feature a baby monitor should have is clear audio sound without much buzzing or background noise. A clear-sounding monitor enables you to immediately identify whether your baby is asleep or awake. Sound-only baby monitors are the best options for a cheap, yet classic and convenient way to ensure the safety of your baby. Some monitors allow two-way audio where you can talk to your baby and hear their responses.

With a little more money, you can find yourself monitors that offer HD video, allowing you to see your baby in real-time. These options let you observe your baby even in cases where they are awake but do not make any noise, enabling you to keep track of their sleep schedules. Some monitors have color video or night vision, making it easier to monitor your baby remotely.

    Long Range

Range is the distance within which you can connect to your monitor. A long range baby monitor allows connection even when you stand far from where your baby is sleeping. If you have a big house with scattered rooms, range becomes an even more important factor to consider before buying a monitor.

    Long Battery Life

The battery is a crucial element for the safety of your baby. You don’t want to get a monitor that cannot even last for the entire 8 hours of your baby’s sleep. Best baby monitors on the market allow low and rechargeable batteries to lower the cost of changing the batteries (and it’s good for the environment too!). However, keep in mind that video monitors are going to use more battery power than audio-only ones.

    Multi-Connectivity

What happens when you have multiple babies sleeping in separate rooms? In that case, look for monitors that allow connections to many cameras. The best baby camera monitors allow up to four cameras at a time, giving you control over your babies from right where you are, saving you the time to move from one room to another, to check on each of them.

    The Benefits of Wifi Monitors

The priciest of them all! However, coming with the high price are the various added benefits that a wifi monitor has to offer. The internet connection allows you to link the monitor to your phone usually through an app, enabling you to keep in touch with your little one even when you’re at work. Some monitors offer sleep statistics that show the quality of your baby’s sleep and offer personalized sleep guidance to make it even better.

My monitor shows the message "no signal". The only thing that I can do is to hard reset my pc. I have a dual boot with win10 and that workes fine.
      Can anyone help please?
      Thanks in advance.
Maybe you didn't install in UEFI-SecureBoot mode?
But if you did then it's most probably caused by the video driver not being authorized to load.
To fix that you need to enroll the Mok-Key that is generated at install time and located at '/var/lib/shim-signed/mok/MOK.der'.

My default install (Kubuntu 20.04 LTS) didn't allow that key to be enrolled automatically on my hardware either, so i had to copy it into the ESP...
To get your system to boot correctly and access that key you need to:
      1. Temporarily boot with SecureBoot disabled in your bios.
      2. Copy '/var/lib/shim-signed/mok/MOK.der' to the ESP.
      3. Reboot with SecureBoot enabled again in your bios.
      4. And finally enroll that key into the MokList using the MokManager (mmx64.efi or KeyTool.efi)
Well thats all for now, 3M
