I'm new. As I write this, I'm in a Mint18 VM. My Kubuntu VM is idle and set aside.
I was hoping that KDE was more like WinXP than it was like Mint Cinnamon. Well, it's more like Win10, and that's not good.
Anyone here have any suggestions what I should try next?
BTW, in my Kubuntu VM, I turned off all the animations and effects. Now the menu will not come up. Yes, I tried 'Application Dashboard', 'Application Launcher', and 'Application Menu'. I tried other things, too. I tried rebooting. Mousing over the 'K' icon brings up a tooltip, but other than that, it is dead. I can't even Quit/Logoff/Shutdown. I have to use VBox to signal an ACPI Shutdown.
PS: This forum software is downright hostile. It wouldn't let me post this because I used a colon in the subject. Holy Cow. How do you folks live with this?
