My posts describing my problem seem to be gone. So here is it again:
I had installed Kubuntu Linux on my computer having it create a new partiiton.
everything worked fine for 2 days, after which it wouldn't boot past the splash screen.
I got a number of suggestions that didn't work, unfortunately.
The real problem is that I can't erase the partition that linux created (so that I can't either start from scratch, or forget about Linex alltogether).
