Questions about waste bin and my computer!

Hi,
Please can you clever people tell me how I can move the wastebin from the panel to the desktop? I would much rather have the wastebin on the desktop than stuck on the panel!
Lastly, how do I create a shortcut on the desktop that will take me to the same information that is available via the 'My computer' shortcut in Windows?

To get the icon back, simply right-click on your desktop, and create new Link to Location, and put 'trash:/' as the location., and 'Trash' as the name of the link, or whatever you like
To get it to show its empty status, you will need to open the file with a text editor such as kwrite.
and open the file"/home/<your-username>/Desktop/Trash.desktop" and add a line containing "EmptyIcon=trashcan_empty".

s to the second question, you just need to make another another link to location, and enter 'media', which will show your mounted disks and partitions.
