I have successfully installed Kubuntu on an older Dell XPS laptop and Manjaro on an HP Spectre. I specifically bought the Dell in the title to use a Linux machine. After adjusting the Bios I was able to boot Kubuntu 18.10 from a USB and run a live session with no issues, connected to wifi, surfed the web, open Libre Office etc. I then installed 18.10 as the only OS on the drive and that seemed to go well until the end where it said it could not access something and then spewed out numerous Linux error messages. Also tried the latest Manjaro with similar result.
I am just enough of a geek to be dangerous so this is a bit over my head. This is a new Dell model with Whiskey lake cpu and the Bios seemed to have more options related to security than I remember from the older dell. I suspect that I have not configured the Bios correctly and that is the issue. I was concerned about Whiskey lake but because it runs the live session fine that seems to not be the problem. I have managed to get Win10 back on the machine but really intended it as a Linux machine so help would be appreciated.
