    Need help with old encrypted file

    Hi,

    I am having a problem unencrypting a file. I made and encrypted the file using kubuntu in 2013, using the encrypt command on the contextual menu. I didn't install any encryption software, so I think it used whatever program it shipped with back then. I didn't use kubuntu for very long and I cant remember which version it was. I now use fedora 27. I have tried using gpg via the command line without success. Does anyone know if kubuntu used a different encryption program back then?

    Thanks very much for reading.

    You could have installed one of several versions of Kubuntu in 2013: 12.04 LTS (Precise Pangolin); 12.10 (Quantal Quetzal); 13.04 (Raring Ringtail); 13.10 (Saucy Salamander).

    The encrypted file in question: What is the filenames extension?

      Another test that could possibly help is the "file" command:
      Code:
      $ file [i]xyz[/i]
      should say what xyz is.
