Network printer doesn't print

Hi,

I'm currently trying to get my Samsung CLX-4190 Series networked printer to work with Kubuntu. I'm using the printer dialog that comes with KDE to install the printer. It is automatically detected and it also finds a suitable driver so everything is looking good so far. I then try to print the test page and after some time waiting, I'm getting "The printer is not responding". The problem can be reproduced also by printing a PDF or any other kind of document.

I took the following steps to solve this but none helped so far:

• Printer is definitely turned on
• I can ping it just fine from my machine
• My wife can print on it from Windows 10
• I tried removing and re-adding it in the printer dialog
• I tried nearly all available combinations of printer drivers and protocols (IPP, LPD, etc.)
• I used sudo /usr/lib/cups/backend/dnssd and it does find my printer
• I used avahi-browse -a -v -t -r and it does find my printer

• I ran tcpdump while printing and I can see some communication
• SNMP seems to work. The printer dialog is showing the available toner levels

I was running regular Ubuntu 18.04 before switching to Kubuntu 18.04.1 a couple of days ago and the darn thing worked just fine there.

Tried "Google is your friend" and came up with this http://www.openprinting.org/printer/...msung-CLX-4190. Don't know if that helps, but there wasn't a lot of current info.

Perhaps the cache is not pointing to the new setup? Delete the cache and re-install the printer. I generally use the HPLIP app to interface with CUPS and to control the cache and keep an eye on consumables.

Unfortunately, googling this issue did help me any further. However, the cache-thing looks interessting. Can you please elaborate a bit on that? Which cache do you mean exactly and how do I delete it? Not sure about HPLIP, though. After reading up on this, I'm pretty sure this is for HP printers only.

Solution: It must have been a hardware issue of some sort. I physically reset the printer configuration and re-configured all the settings manually. It is now working in Kubuntu.
