Yesterday I decided to try installing Kubuntu (my hard drive is stuffed and amazingly it installed).
I then realised that there is stuff all programs. So I have heaps of programs I would like to install. My only problem is that I'm new to Linux and I don't have a clue how to install programs. What do I do? Also, I was told to do it as root but when I login as root it says "root logins are not allowed". So how do I install programs?
Also, I have a cd/dvd drive. Kubuntu will mount cd's but not dvd's. How do I get dvd's to mount?
