Changing the ctrl shift e shortcut on a new Kubuntu 18.04 installation

Hi, just yesterday I installed Kubuntu 18.04.1 LTS 64-bit and one of the first things I did was install vs code. I use the ctr shift e shortcut there to view the file explorer and I use that a lot. But what I get instead is an underlined e.
My issue is really similar to this one https://askubuntu.com/questions/1046...le-emoji-input except that I didn't have ibus. I installed it anyway and removed that emoji shortcut from ibus but that didn't fix my issue. Anyone has an idea of what it could be?

By 'vs code', are you meaning 'Visual Studio Code'?
