Should I install Kubuntu 24.10 on my laptop

Good day to all Kubuntu users, I have looked through all the forums, started to learn Linux, but I can't choose for my laptop. So, the characteristics of the laptop 8 GB RAM
12 gen Intel core i3 1215u (6 cores) this is a fairly new processor
    256gb ssd nvme.
    Videocard Intel UHD Gragics.
Running Windows 11,however I have some questions
1)What are the system requirements for Kubuntu?
2)Should I install Kubuntu on this laptop?

Welcome to the community. In my opinion you should. Your system has great hardware profile that will perform well. Personally I hate Windows, so here is my advice. If you are a low maintenance type of user, go with version 24.04 LTS. You won't need to do any upgrades until the new LTS comes out in 2026. If you like the latest and greatest, get 2410 and prepare to upgrade about May this year, and do the upgrades about a month after their releases. Kubuntu comes out every April and October. Whether you chose to dual boot (keeping Windows) or wipe and do a full install, it's your choice.

      1. That is difficult, there is nothing official. But pretty low. IMO 4Gb ram and dual core is as low as I'd suggest. Basic and older Chromebooks for example. Yours is not too new at all, in this sense.
      2. Sure! You can give it a test drive before installing as well.

kubuntu will use about half your ram just with a browser running, so while it will work it may not be the most productive system.... for laptops, esp with limited ram, i tend to like lubuntu instead.

the LXQt desktop is a lighter weight cousin of KDE (both based on Qt framework) and it does not need nearly as many settings and configuration details as kubuntu.

you will have more ram left over for your needs rather than devoting nearly half of it right out of the gate, just to the desktop.

I don't open many tabs and from the start it consumes 1.5 GB of RAM, which is about the same as lubuntu ,so although Lubuntu is good, I honestly say I didn’t see any difference between KDE and Lubuntu.
