Using 24.10 wallpaper slideshow does not consider .nef files anymore?

Hi guys,

I recently migrated my system from 24.04 LTS to 24.10.
Obviously, with new QT version 6.x underlying some things go a new way.

E.g., under 24.04 (and earlier) I configured the background wallpaper as slideshow of my personal photos.
These photos consists of jpg files, but mainly of nef (Nikon raw format) files.
With 24.04 that worked pretty good, but now with 24.10 I'm at a loss.

Darktable is installed on my system and can handle my nef files.

Is there any way to get the support of the wallpaper sildeshow for those nef files back?

I'm surprised no remedies have been discussed. If it was me, I would convert the Nikon format to a more recognized format. If you are open to this idea and need help finding a program, you could web search "linux alternative to irfanview".
