Looks like you will have to use a LiveUSB of Kubuntu, or what ever, and explore your SSD with gparted or partitionmanager and find out if it still lives or has died.
What is your make & model of the ssd and how long have you been using it?

I had this same error on Kubuntu 18.04 a couple days ago. My system was running fine and for some reason --I don't remember why-- I decided to reboot. When I rebooted I got that same error and after several attempts at booting and failing, I decided it was a good opportunity to finally install the SSD I've had for a while now. The laptop would not detect the SSD so I put the HDD back in and it worked. No more error messages. I'm still scratching my head. Loose connecting cable?

Was your SSD a 2.5" SATA or a long memory stick-like device?
