[Settings] Problems with boot splash settings panel

No idea what happened but the thumbnails disappeared and on top of that I can no longer install or apply new boot splashes. Really would prefer not to have to reinstall the entire OS to repair this feature. It does ask me for my password every time I try to install one, not sure if that's tied into what's going on. I'm thinking maybe it's a permission issue, but not sure.

We need to know what version of Kubuntu you are running. Also, where are you going to get new boot splashes, and what specific boot splashes are you attempting to apply?
