Re: REpository Problem
I am a newbie too so this may not be the best advice you get, but anyway I would remove all the lines that look like this -
# Line commented out by installer because it failed to verify:
You need to be root to edit and save it but you can right click and under actions select edit as root. (It may be worth copying your original file to another name such as sources.list.old first so you can go back if it makes things worse)
In my version I ended up with all the lines beginning deb uncommented, ie active and even added some more as needed and suggested by this forum.
I think one of the best bits of advice I got was to install a thing called Automatix which automates installation of most of the things people want. Go here - www.getautomatix.com

Re: REpository Problem
Below is what mine is like (after Automatix did its thing). There are no au. (Australia) prefixes so it may be worth removing them, or use this as it is. To check it run Adept (enter password), wait... and click on Fetch Updates to test. If thats ok you can click on Full Upgrade. If this doesn't work I will back out as there are much more knowledgable people than me that will help you. ---

Re: REpository Problem
Bouncy,
It looks as if most of your repository lines begin with a single blank space. Try deleting them:
Yours:
## Uncomment the following two lines to add software from the 'universe'
## repository.
## N.B. software from this repository is ENTIRELY UNSUPPORTED by the Ubuntu
## team, and may not be under a free licence. Please satisfy yourself as to
## your rights to use the software. Also, please note that software in
## universe WILL NOT receive any review or updates from the Ubuntu security
## team.
deb http://au.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ dapper universe
deb-src http://au.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ dapper universe
Should be:
## Uncomment the following two lines to add software from the 'universe'
## repository.
## N.B. software from this repository is ENTIRELY UNSUPPORTED by the Ubuntu
## team, and may not be under a free licence. Please satisfy yourself as to
