    Problems with USB install

    Hi guys,

I am trying to install Kubuntu on my desktop but having no luck. Each time I try to install from the USB I am able to boot from the USB and I can see the option to install the OS or try it (or check the installation media). When I select the option to install (or try) the computer has a thin stripe of colours at the top of the screen and then a lot of blurred text (of which I can barely make out that there has been a failure of some description).

The iso I am using to make the USB installer is: ubuntu-17.04-desktop-amd64.iso.

I am trying to install it alongside an installation of Windows 10.

    Here are my hardware specs:

    CPU - Intel Core i7-5820K @ 3.30GHz (64 bit)
    GPU - MSi GTX 970
    RAM - G.Skill Ripjaws X DDR4 4x4gb (total 16gb)
HD - Samsung SSD 850 EVO 500GB (I have made a 120GB partition for Kubuntu on the HD)
BIOS - MSi Click BIOS 5 ver: E7885IMS.1DO
USB - I have tried several different USB drives always with the same result.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Sounds like a video problem. Try adding the "nomodeset" option to the boot line.

Thanks - that did the trick.

Cool. Likely once you do the install, if you install the nvidia drivers that problem will resolve itself.

I'm installing them as I type - thanks once again.
