If you have copied text output that contains formatting (colors, highlighting, etc.), please do not enclose it in QUOTE or CODE tags. Just right-click your mouse and choose "Paste Without Formatting" or similar (Paste as plain text).
If you save your $HOME, this is where your settings are kept, so you can restore your personal account related settings and documents after a clean install if you back that all up
You can't install Kubuntu over Neon without wiping the existing OS (or dual booting), unless you had installed Neon with custom partitioning, using a separate one for /home.
In that case, you would do custom install, assign the correct partitions to the correct mount points, and make sure that /home is NOT marked to be formatted.
