lets get some more information ,,,,,,,
1-the external drive was purchased with NTFS file system on it (yes/no) ,,,,if no how did you format it and was it with Kubuntu or with windows .
2-you said ,,,,"thought I extended all its authorizations.",,,,,, exactly how did you go about doing that.
3-if you plug the drive in wile your up and running ,,,dose the device notifier pop up asking if you want to open in file manager ,,,,,,,,if yes ,,,,then can you do anything with it .
4- you say your trying to copy your 14.04 /home/you ,,,,,,,what version are you running now .
answer these questions and then open a konsole and with the drive plugged in copy/paste each of these into the konsole and hit enter then copy and paste the output hear in code tags.

the problem is probably,,,,,,,,,the permissions thing ,,,although I thought mounting in Dolphin or thrugh the device notifyer would give you these ,,,,,,,,we ,,,,,probably ,,,,,need to create a folder/directory that you own on the drive .
O and please enplane how you got into the drive (got it mounted) far enough to even try to copy/paste or drag the folder in .
