first time user

its the first time to use linux. and i am impressed with kubuntu. and feel like i dont wanna go back to other os.

btw, here's my 2 concerns:

first, i was able to chat/IM using kopete - yahoo but i cant get into public rooms. hows that?

second, i wanna install games... i don't know how. i've read several instructions but i just don't get it. whew! anyways, what's the top games that run on kubuntu?

I don't know anything about Kopete, but I like the game called Pioneers. It's in the repositories, and you can install it through Synaptic Package Manager (see my sig for instructions). SuperTux is a fun one as well.

Or are you talking more commercial games?

kopete is an instant messenger like yahoo messenger i suppose .
i don't have synaptic package manager, whats in here is "adept" package manager.

i mean any games, commercial or free...

btw, whats repository? (forgive my ignorance).

As for Yahoo Groups I don't think it's on the roadmap: http://kopete.kde.org/roadmap.php

Right now I think the Kopete devs are working on Video & Voice chat. (Video is in.).

Thanks so much. I've learned so many things here about kubuntu (& linux in general) in just a very short span of time. I am amazed and everything is great.
