    CD won't boot?

I'm at my wits end here. For some reason I cannot boot to either the Ubuntu or Kubuntu CD. I've even tried disabling HD booting in my BIOS setup, and the CD still won't boot.

    Any ideas?

I'm trying to install it to a second partition....but I can't, if it won't boot.

I have tried the following already:

Disabling legacy USB in the bios. No help.

Yes, the CD drive is in the boot sequence. I've even tried disabling HDD booting just to cover my butt, but the CD refuses to boot.

Yes, I burned one cd at full speed and one at 4x speed. Neither works.

    Any Help?

    Are the cd's dodgy?

My partner burned me a cd to boot from to try a new operating system and although I could boot from it, he couldn't at all even though we knew that his boot from cd was working as he tried other bootable cds.
