How do I remove the dropdown after an email is sent? [Email successfully sent]

My vision is poor. The drop down remains until I close by selecting the X. In Kmail, the background of the area where the X is contained is the same color as the X. so I have to search for it by clicking that area until I make contact with the link. If I leave the drop down message on screen and I need to read something that is underneath the drop down I have to search for the X.

I can live with the problem, but it would be nice to remove the drop down.
