    USB w/ Persistence

I have a bootable USB 8GB in size with a 1.6GB iso on it. Can I add "persistence" to it? It appears "persistence" may require 4GB of space which I have on the usb stick. I found one item which I interpret as, if I have Grub installed already, it's a no go. See method 2 in link: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/mkusb/persistent

In this second link, it appears doable: http://docs.kali.org/downloading/kal...sb-persistence

If doable, can I add "persistance" to the existing usb stick which contains the iso, do I remove my existing iso and replace with a "persistence" version of the iso, ........?

This isn't a major deal though I would like to take advantage of the additional flexibility offered with persistence if available.

    Thanks

If you use the installer I told you about you can do this easily
      http://www.pendrivelinux.com/univers...easy-as-1-2-3/

Or you can do it with your existing LiveUSB by creating a Partition along side of the one that now houses the LiveSession files. Create it in gparted and mark as ext4, and name it "casper-rw". I will give you more info when on Main pc, testing Mint 18 now. Maybe your first shot at it would be best to do with the installer above.

You will have to use UUI in Windows. You can also just choose the "Format" box so that you can delete anything on there now without another tool, and make the Live Media at the same time, pretty nice!

Then just slide the "Persistence" Adjuster all the way to the right, making it 4GB. To make a larger Persistent File you will need to do it manually, but this should be good for now. It will probably be slow, depending on the USB and the hardware on your laptop. I have only tested this on an old pc with USB 2.0 Ports, and a 2.0 USB.

You can also do Full Installs to USB's just like you do to a HDD, but again, I don't have much experience doing this on good equipment so mine was slow. You will need a fast usb and then maybe even use the 3.0 Port, but some pc's won't boot from these ports with 3.0 usb's. I'm not up on all the tech, so you will have to experiment. Any questions you have I'll try to answer later.
