Excessive Boot Time

New to Kubuntu, not new to Ubuntu (dumped Windows three years ago. My problem is that the boot time has gone from under a minute to over 4 minutes. Seems to hang up somewhere in the process. Still boots but the long wait time may mean I've developed a problem.

• Kubuntu 16.04
• No Windows anywhere in sight, and no other operating systems loaded.
• KDE Plasma 5.5.5
• Grub is Legacy Version
• No other OS

Information about my PC:

• Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3230M CPU @ 2.60GHz
  
• Intel 3rd generation GPU
• 8 Gb RAM
• 1 HDD 4 Partitions, Kubuntu, Data, Swap, Photos
• 1 DVD writer internal

Can anyone help me diagnose the long boot time issue. The only solution I am aware of would be to re-install.

I assume you mean time to get to the sddm login?

Or do you also mean a delay getting to the desktop once you login (auto or via DM)?

If boot prior to login, what is the output in terminal of

systemd-analyze blame

and

systemd-analyze critical-chain

I have managed to solve the problem, so I am unable to post the information you requested.

The issue has been resolved.

Using my Live USB, I performed a re-install without formatting the Kubuntu partition.

All my settings and software are as they were before the re-install.

I use a separate Data Partition for Documents, Downloads, Music, Pictures and Data (using Symlinks).

This works better than the "REPAIR" option offered by Windows OS'es.

All of that adds up to no data or application losses. Thank you, for the replly and my apologies for not posting this earlier last night.
