How do I enter a ksplash background in the appropriate folder?

    Kubuntu 14.04 LTS 64bit

I got help when installing a custom splash screen when I was in K13.04. I located my custom splash screen in the following location: /home/steven/.kde/share/apps/ksplash/themes/MyDefault/.....water-flame.....

Currently I am using a 'colorful wave' wallpaper on both the Login Screen and the Desktop. It is attractive to me, but necessary to use the 'none' feature when opening the system, because I can't find the folder to put the image. That puts a black screen between Login and an open Desktop. I have a .jpg of the identical image located in my /Downloads folder and would like to enter it into the /ksplash/Themes folder, so I can fill that gap between the Login screen and the Desktop.

The only instruction I have been able to find is supposed to be located following: /home/steven/.kde/share/apps/ But the folder ksplash is not there, nor a Themes folder following.

If the address to splash screens is different in Kubuntu 14.04 LTS, could anyone please tell me where it is located? Thanks! Shab

I found that you have to install a new ksplash theme for the path you describe to be created.

Try installing any theme via System Settings, Workspace Appearance, Splash Screen, Get New Themes. I installed the "Spectrum" theme as an experiment. It worked, and you can test it too. The theme installed to: /home/rod/.kde/share/apps/ksplash/Themes/Kubuntu Spectrum 1680x1050. Once you have done that you could probably experiment replacing the background.png in the theme with your image but you will first have to convert your .jpg to .png I think. Gwenview can do that by viewing the .jpg file then clicking on Plugins, Batch Processing, Convert Images and choosing .png format.

It worked for me too, but when I tried to locate its location it did not show up, so I don't know where to put my image.

OK ... we fixed it using Teamviewer if anyone wonders what happened.

I basically copied the default theme from /usr/share/kde4/apps/ksplash/Themes to /home/steven/.kde/share/apps/ksplash/Themes and replaced the background.png with Shab's image. It's working now.

And he didn't charge a penny for mileage. Half way around the world the guru serves. I hope Microsoft users read this post, just to see the richness of the talent and the willingness to help others that is provided by Linux gurus, especially Kubuntu Linux. It is like going from darkness to the light.
